Driving the Digital Agenda in Ijebu Land

On Friday, 6th March and Saturday, 7th March 2026, the Akin Mabogunje Digital Skills Centre in Onirugba, Ijebu Land, marked a landmark milestone in community digital transformation with the successful delivery of its inaugural AI Literacy Workshop. Offered completely free of charge under the auspices of the Ijebu Development Initiative on Poverty Reduction (IDIPR), the intensive two-day programme formally launched IDIPR’s AI-powered digital skills agenda for the region.

The workshop was conceptualized and strategically coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Jinmisayo A. Awokola, IDIPR’s Digital Project Consultant. Designed to bridge the digital divide and equip local talent with globally competitive capabilities, the event attracted a vibrant cohort of 25 participants - comprising young professionals, entrepreneurs, academic researchers, and students from across Ijebu Land.

World-Class Facilitation & Cutting-Edge AI Platforms

Spanning eight total hours of practical instruction (running from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM on Day 1 and 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Day 2), participants were expertly guided by a distinguished facilitation team comprising Mr. Adeeko Olalekan, Mr. Bisi Adeyemi, and Dr. Awokola Jinmisayo. Delivering their expertise with every sense of devotion to community development, the facilitators introduced participants to six of the world's most versatile artificial intelligence platforms:

• ChatGPT: Text-based conversational AI for drafting, ideation, and writing assistance.
• Claude: Advanced text generation, document analysis, and complex reasoning tasks.
• Whisk: AI-powered visual creation and graphic image generation.
• NotebookLM: Document-grounded research synthesis and knowledge management.
• Grok: Real-time intelligence retrieval and social media integration.
• HeyGen: AI video creation using digital avatars and synthetic voice generation.

From Curiosity to Real-World Application

Beyond conceptual understanding, the workshop placed strong emphasis on hands-on interaction and practical problem-solving. Participants actively tested tools and explored direct applications tailored to their respective fields:

• Content Creators & Designers experimented with synthetic video creation using HeyGen and visual branding with Whisk.
• Academics & Researchers explored accelerated literature review and document synthesis using Claude and NotebookLM.
• Entrepreneurs & Business Owners identified marketing automation and customer engagement strategies using ChatGPT.

To sustain learning momentum beyond the structured event, the facilitation team assigned all 25 participants an independent capstone project. Participants were tasked with building a practical AI solution tailored to their specific professional domain, ensuring immediate continuity and real-world skill adoption.
